The subject of leadership goes to the root of human behavior.  Professionally, this extends to behavior within the organized work culture.  Human Resource Directors, being vital to employees, supervisors and managers, must demonstrate leadership in their division and overall organization.  This leadership will determine their impact and reality moving forward.  HR’s vision, strategy, execution and level of influence needed in today’s environment will be discussed including current business principles, trends and threats to this dynamic collaboration of HR within their organization. 

 

Sharleen Smith is an experienced trainer, organizational consultant and executive coach.  She currently serves as the Director of Outreach and Professional Development for Troy University.  With vast experience in both the public and private sectors, she understands the needs and challenges of organizations and today’s workforce.  Throughout her career, she has been known nationally for her expertise in performance management systems and legal policy; however, her passion is training and development. She has trained over 300,000 people, at over 350 conferences and 5,000 seminars and in over 200 topics.  Ms. Smith is a published author in journals such as The Journal of Applied PsychologyJournal of International Management and Personnel and Journal of Personnel Administration.  Ms. Smith presents in-depth research at national and international forums, including the International Management and Personnel Association, National Governmental Training Directors Association, National Human Resource Management Forum, Blackburn Institute and the National Workforce Development Conference.  She authored management and motivational columns in state and national newspapers and magazines for over fifteen years and continues these columns via client websites.
