THE FUTURE OF THE EDA AND BAY COUNTY
Neal Wade
Executive Director
Bay Economic Development Alliance
Neal Wade joined the Bay EDA in January 2012 as its executive director. He brings over 20 years of public and private sector experience to the Bay EDA. In 2003, he was appointed by Governor Bob Riley as director of the Alabama Development Office (ADO), the state’s lead economic development organization, and served in the position for seven years. He also served two stints at The St. Joe Company, most recently as senior vice president of economic development responsible for the commercial VentureCrossings Enterprise Centre adjacent to the new Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport.
As the ADO director, Wade was actively involved in many of the state’s most successful economic development efforts, including the location of Hyundai Heavy Industries, EADS CASA Engineering Center, ThyssenKrupp Steel, Austal USA, Hudson-Alpha Institute for Biotechnology and CGI Group Inc. to the state. He also was involved with expansion projects from companies including Hyundai, Honda, Mercedes-Benz and Toyota. Under his leadership, the Alabama Development Office twice won the title of top state economic development agency in the United States and Alabama’s economy had been named best in the Southeast for five straight years by experts in the field.
Wade graduated from Samford University and he and his wife, Mary Ann, have three children and six grandchildren.
Human Resource Professionals and small business representatives meet monthly. First we have lunch ($15.00 for members), ($25.00 for Non-Members) then we have presentations to the group.
