Identity Theft – A Growing Problem
June 3, 2009
Panama City
Tuition - Free
Course No. 520-09-15
Course Time: 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Description: In 2007, Florida was ranked fifth in the nation for the
number of identity theft complaints reported to the Federal Trade
Commission. Identity theft is not just a
financial or civil matter; it involves a victim who did not authorize
someone to use their identity. Identity theft has the potential of
destroying not only a person’s good name, but their life. This course
will enhance the victim advocate’s ability to assist the non-violent crime victim population and gain the knowledge and resources to guide
victims through the restoration process. In addition, advocates will
learn the possible correlation between identity theft and other
victimization such as stalking,
harassment, domestic violence, child and elder abuse.
